One of December's picks, a PBS commercial called "Bedtime," features a father reading Little Red Riding Hood to his daughter. During the story, various PBS personalities show up in the bedroom to offer their versions of the story, including Bernadette Peters, Jim Lehrer, Norm Abrams, the cartoon character Arthur, and more. Each version hints to the program each represents. Jim offers news on the wolf, Norm offers advice on doors and deadbolts that would have kept the wolf out, etc. In one fell swoop, PBS advertised a handful of programs in a 60-second spot. Pretty effective -- and a pretty efficient use of 60 seconds.
